The Best Desserts at Trader Joe’s

Trader Joe's Desserts

I like to consider myself an ~expert~ of Trader Joe’s. Definitely my favorite place to get food and have some good snacks and desserts from. I’ve made a list of all the best desserts from Trader Joe’s that you NEED to try!

More Trader Joe’s favorites:

Desserts

Chocolate

1. Chocolate Lava Gnocchi

I was a little skeptical about this one at first, but it’s AMAZING. It’s made from potatoes, but I couldn’t taste them at all. The key is making these in the air fryer and topping them with ice cream or whipped cream.

2. Chocolate Hummus

My favorite way to eat this is as a dip with strawberries and graham crackers. Perfect to have with breakfast or a sweet snack!

3. Dark Chocolate Peanut Butter Cups

These are a go-to of mine that I think I mention in every Trader Joe’s blog I write. I went through a phase where I had one of these EVERY SINGLE NIGHT after dinner. They have the perfect peanut butter to chocolate ratio that makes them addictive!

4. Protein Dark Chocolate Muffin

This one could be a dessert or breakfast, but either way, it’s amazing! All you have to do is add water and microwave this, then you have a yummy chocolate cake. I love having it at night and topping it with ice cream (which I get into at the end of this post). Plus, it adds some protein which is great to help keep you full.

5. Soft Baked Peanut Butter Chocolate Chip Cookies

These cookies are unreal. They’re soft, moist, and so peanut buttery. Not much else to say about these besides that you need to get them.

6. Deep Dish Chocolate Chip Cookie

This cookie comes in the frozen section and is pretty much a skillet cookie that is ready to go. It’s so easy to pop in the oven and have an amazing dessert that tastes homemade. Non-negotiable, you HAVE to top it with ice cream (takes it to the next level).

7. Almond Flour Chocolate Chip Cookie Mix

I love this dessert because it’s vegan and gluten-free, which makes it friendly for a lot of people with dietary restrictions. Honestly, you would never know they were vegan. I made them for me and my roommates last year and we couldn’t tell that they were vegan and gluten-free! They’re so soft and have an amazing flavor.

8. Milk Chocolate Macadamia Nut Lacey Cookies

I have been SLEEPING on these my entire life. These are truly a hidden gem at Trader Joe’s. I actually had no clue that these existed until my friend bought them and I tried one. I’m not even sure how to describe them besides caramel, meets chocolate, meets a crispy cookie, meets pure perfection.

9. Crispy Crunchy Chocolate Chip Cookies

Another solid cookie option. These cookies come in that giant bin and are so cute and mini! I’m usually a soft cookie gal, but these are an exception. They make a perfect grab-and-go sweet treat that usually go pretty fast in my house.

Cakes

10. New York Style Cheesecake

This cheesecake is UNREAL. My mom loves cheesecake and is usually pretty picky about which one she likes. We were all blown away by this. It comes in the frozen section, but it truly tastes like you just got a slice in New York. If you’re going to try one thing from this list, make it this. One of the best desserts!

11. Chocolate Lava Cakes

These cakes also come in the frozen section, but again, they taste as if you got them at a restaurant. You just need to pop them in the microwave for a minute, then you have a chocolatey and gooey lava cake for yourself! They’re the perfect single-size option, and again, you need to have this with ice cream. Non-negotiable.

12. Holiday Mousse Cakes

I first noticed that Trader Joe’s came out with holiday-themed mousse cakes this year, and I’m so glad I discovered them. They’re a little 6-pack of mini mousse cakes that are in the bakery section. They had pumpkins for Halloween, hearts for Valentine’s day, and now they have eggs for spring. I love this dessert because the mousse to cake ratio is perfect. The key to these is to keep them in the fridge, which is a game-changer. Perfect for chocolate lovers!

Ice Cream

13. Mochi

I never tried mochi until this year, and my desserts game was changed! My favorite ones from Trader Joe’s are the strawberry and chocolate peanut butter flavors. Such a refreshing dessert if you’re craving something cold and sweet!

14. Sublime Ice Cream Sandwiches

If you grew up getting Chipwiches from the ice cream truck, you need to try these. They’re 10x better than the ice cream truck ones. I’m not sure why, they just are. Not much more to say besides that you need to try these!

15. Non-Dairy Vanilla & Strawberry

For all my dairy-free and vegan friends out there, I’ve got you covered. I’m a huge fan of the Vanilla Non-Dairy Frozen Dessert made with almond milk. It tastes like cake batter ice cream! My personal favorite vegan ice cream is the Strawberry Non-Dairy Frozen Dessert. I’m not usually a fan of fruity ice creams, but this one is an exception. It has candied strawberries and almond brittle for some extra texture and crunch. SO GOOD.

16. Ube Ice Cream

I feel like this one is either you love it or hate it. I definitely love it. It’s made with purple yam, but I promise that it doesn’t taste like sweet potatoes! To me, it tastes like salted caramel, but I’ve also heard people who don’t like it, so it’s definitely an acquired flavor.

I hope that you enjoyed these Trader Joe’s dessert recommendations and are looking forward to your future desserts!
