Pylori infection (full post, <a href=\"https:\/\/sprinklingofhealth.com\/acne-and-gut\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">here<\/a>). In order to get my skin under control, I had to get my gut under control. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3>Mastic Gum<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>This is not a skin-specific supplement<\/strong>,<strong> it was only used in my case for H. Pylori.<\/strong> An H. Pylori infection is typically treated with a triple therapy, consisting of a proton pump inhibitor, and antibiotics. Instead, mastic gum is a natural resin that has been seen to be effective in <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov\/pmc\/articles\/PMC5481734\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">eradicating H. Pylori. And it worked! My skin began improving days after starting this supplement. Definitely work with a professional in regards to brands and dosing, as it&#8217;s very specified. Again, <strong>don&#8217;t use this product if you only have acne and no known diagnosis of H. Pylori.<\/strong> <\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3>GI Microb-X<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>My GI Map test also revealed that I had bacterial imbalances in my gut. GI Microb-X is a supplement used to kill off the harmful bacteria in the gut that can cause these imbalances. I also took this for around 2 months. This definitely did help my skin, but I think the mastic gum made the biggest difference for me. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3>Spore-Based Probiotics <\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>The only supplement I am currently taking for my skin is a spore-based probiotic. <a href=\"https:\/\/coe.unt.edu\/news\/unt-research-shows-benefits-spore-based-probiotic-supplements\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Spore-based probiotics<\/a> specifically are beneficial because they are highly resistant to stomach acid, which makes them more effective. Probiotics are highly individualized, so it&#8217;s important to find one that works for you!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator\"\/>\n\n\n\n<h2>Topicals<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<h3>Cerave Cleansers <\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>I&#8217;m a Cerave gal through and through. I use the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cerave.com\/skincare\/cleansers\/renewing-sa-cleanser\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Cerave Renewing SA Cleanser<\/a> in the morning and the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cerave.com\/skincare\/cleansers\/foaming-facial-cleanser\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Foaming Facial Cleanser<\/a> at night. Nice and simple. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3>Azelaic Acid Gel<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>This was prescribed by my dermatologist, so it&#8217;s not something you can get over the counter in high doses. It definitely does help my acne because it has anti-inflammatory properties.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3>La Roche-Posay Toleriane Double Repair UV SPF<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.amazon.com\/Roche-Posay-Toleriane-Double-Repair-Moisturizer\/dp\/B01NCWV3KM\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">SPF<\/a> is certainly a game-changer. This has really improved the texture and redness of my skin. It&#8217;s a bit pricy for sunscreen, but it lasts a long time. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3>Tretinoin Cream <\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>This is another dermatologist prescribed-item. I will only use a pea size amount 2-3 times a week because it&#8217;s super drying. Definitely does help my acne!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3>The Ordinary Niacinamide 10% + Zinc 1%<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>I&#8217;ve been using this forever and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ulta.com\/p\/niacinamide-10-zinc-1-oil-control-serum-pimprod2007111\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">love it<\/a>. I&#8217;ll use it on the nights when I don&#8217;t use the Tretinoin since it&#8217;s more hydrating. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3>The Ordinary Alpha Arbutin 2% + HA<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.ulta.com\/p\/alpha-arbutin-2-ha-pimprod2007108\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">This product<\/a> is great for hyperpigmentation, which is my main issue right now. I use it after the Tretinoin or Niacinamide. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3>The Inkey List Tranexamic Acid Night Treatment <\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Totally love <a href=\"https:\/\/www.instacart.com\/landing?product_id=22169903&amp;retailer_id=1493&amp;region_id=32862332994&amp;utm_medium=sem_shopping&amp;utm_source=instacart_google&amp;utm_campaign=ad_demand_shopping_rp_beauty&amp;utm_content=accountid-8145171519_campaignid-16001340380_adgroupid-134004826989_device-c&amp;gclid=Cj0KCQjwsdiTBhD5ARIsAIpW8CIeh9t-XkWzUE33ZmvEdxLTXAIbbnlggFDp0c1MS3AC121E7HWUMVYaAsfIEALw_wcB\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">this product<\/a> for dark spots and hyperpigmentation! I will say that if you have active acne, you may want to hold off on this since it&#8217;s meant for post-acne scarring and doesn&#8217;t actually help acne. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3>Cerave Healing Ointment <\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>This isn&#8217;t specific to acne, but it&#8217;s a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.amazon.com\/CeraVe-Protectant-Petrolatum-Ceramides-Fragrance\/dp\/B016F3MGQ6\/ref=asc_df_B016F3MGQ6\/?tag=hyprod-20&amp;linkCode=df0&amp;hvadid=309813749887&amp;hvpos=&amp;hvnetw=g&amp;hvrand=14123824442782676278&amp;hvpone=&amp;hvptwo=&amp;hvqmt=&amp;hvdev=c&amp;hvdvcmdl=&amp;hvlocint=&amp;hvlocphy=9007309&amp;hvtargid=pla-570371492556&amp;th=1\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">holy grail<\/a> for dry skin. It&#8217;s pretty much the same as Vaseline, but I love putting it on my eyelids and under eyes for extra hydration. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3>Skin Better Science AlphaRet Exfoliating Peel Pads <\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>My dermatologist recommended getting a chemical peel for my scarring, but I <a href=\"https:\/\/store.skinbetter.com\/alpharet-exfoliating-peel-pads\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">opted for this<\/a> instead since it&#8217;s much cheaper. They&#8217;re definitely pricy, but it comes with 30 pads. I only use them 1-2 times per week, so they last a while! The only major thing I changed in my diet and every day life was <strong>removing gluten.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The reason I chose to go gluten-free is because my GI Map revealed that my body does not break down gluten well. I was strictly gluten-free for 2 months, then had some when I was away for <a href=\"https:\/\/sprinklingofhealth.com\/texas-food\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">spring break<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>I notice a HUGE change in my skin when I consume gluten versus when I don&#8217;t. Even a few weeks ago I had a beer and my skin was breaking out for 3-4 days after. To me, it&#8217;s not worth it to eat gluten if it compromises my skin. This may change, but at least for now this is what works for me. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator\"\/>\n\n\n\n<p>Acne is so personalized and different for everyone. It certainly took me a lot of time to figure out what works for me and what doesn&#8217;t.
